First female amputee to scale Everest #BlogchatterA2Z

Today is the first day of A2Z Blogging Challenge and I have decided my theme as 'Unsung Personalities who deserve our salutes'   Theme Reveal - #BlogchatterA2Z

This is my very first post under this challenge and as the first letter is A , I am writing about Arunima Sinha .

I am feeling happy as today is the day of Durga Ashtmi and  I get a chance to write about an adventurous girl who has now become an inspiration for all of us.

Arunima Sinha

Arunima Sinha , a girl who liked cycling , football and was also a seven time Indian volleyball player wanted to climb each of the continents' highest peaks and hoist the national flag.

She wanted to join the paramilitary forces. She got a call letter from CISF(Central Industrial Security Force) in 2011. That is when her life completely changed .

She boarded the Padmaavati Express from Lucknow to Delhi to take an examination for joining CISF. In the train , some robbers who wanted to steal Arunima's bag and gold chain , pushed her out of the train.

As she fell on the parallel railway track , another train crushed her leg below the knee.

Arunima was rushed to the hospital . She had a severe leg injury and multiple fractures in spinal cord .Her left leg had to be amputated below the knee.

Inspired by cricketer Yuvraj Singh who battled Cancer successfully , she resolved to climb the Mount Everest even after her accident.

She climbed the Island peak (6150 m) in 2012 as a preparation for ascent of Mount Everest.

She climbed the Mount Everest and reached the summit on May 21, 2013 becoming the first female amputee to scale Everest .

She has been awarded the Padma Shri along with other awards including the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure award , First Lady award , Malala award , Yash Bharti award and Rani Lakshmi Bai award.

She has written a book named 'Born again on the Mountain' which was launched in 2014 by Mr. Narendra Modi along with another book named 'Everest ki Beti'.

She has till now climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro , Mt. Elbrus , Mt. Kosciuszko , Mt. Aconcagua, Carstensz Pyramid and Mt. Vinson .

Arunima is a very inspiring lady and has proved that :

"Nothing is Impossible"
