Amer Fort - Location of the film Jodha Akbar #BlogchatterA2Z
Remember the scene from Jodha Akbar where Aishwarya Rai is practicing her sword skills ? Yep, it was shot at a very beautiful location of the Amer Fort .
It is one of the places I have been to and personally I was mesmerized by its beauty .
Amer Fort also called the Amber fort is located in Rajasthan , India. It is about 11 kilometres from Jaipur, the pink city and so it is a must visit if you are going on a Jaipur trip. The fort has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with several other Forts of Rajashtan.

The fort was originally built by Raja Man Singh and later additions were made by Raja Sawai Jai Singh.
Made of red sandstone and marble , the fort overlooks the Maotha or Maota Lake which is its main source of water . The lake also has a collection of gardens known as the Lake Gardens which were built on a single stone including the Kesar Kyari- Saffron garden.
Another Fort called the Jaigarh Fort is located very close to the Amer Fort and they are considered one complex . They are linked through a passage which was meant to serve as an escape route at the time of war so that the royal family can shift to the Jaigarh fort for safety.
The Amber Fort is popularly known for its Diwan-e-aam , Diwan-e- Khaas and the Sheesh Mahal .
Diwan-e-aam was the hall for the public while the Diwan-e-Khaas was the hall for the private audience of the court .

Sheesh Mahal as we all know is a room with its walls and ceiling covered with small pieces of glass. Reflections can be seen everywhere and also as our guide told us , just turn on your flashlight and point it to the cieling , you will see stars during the day !
