The fort was once ruled by the Qutub Shah Dynasty , Nizams of Hyderabad and the Mughals

Elgandal Fort was occupied by the Qutub Shahi Dynasty in the 16th century , later on captured by the Mughals .

Dhamsa strengthened the fort in 1754 under the rule of Sikandar Jah .

The fort is home to a mosque and an Eidgah which is a special place for eid prayers .

The fort's rulers surrounded the fort with a crocodile-filled moat which was around 5 metres wide and 3 metres deep to prevent invasion by enemies .
