might know he was a comedian but do you know his full name or about his
struggle ?
So now , let
us have a look at his story.
Charlie –
Charles Spencer Chaplin was born in London
to Hannah Chaplin and Charles Chaplin . At the time of his birth , both his
mother and father were music hall entertainers .
Hannah (Chaplin’s
mother) was the daughter of a shoemaker and had an unsuccessful career under
the stage name Lily Harley.
Chaplin’s
childhood was filled with poverty and hardship . His early years were spent
with his mother and brother in London .They were not getting any financial
support by Chaplin’s father .
As the
situation deteriorated, Chaplin was sent to a workhouse when he was just seven
years old .
In 1898 ,
Hannah had developed a psychosis mainly brought by an infection .
His father
died two years later as he had become an alcohol addict .
Hannah’s
sickness continued and she later died in 1928.
But between
his time in the poor schools and his mother’s illness , Chaplin began to act on
stage . By the time he was 13 , he had abandoned his education .
Chaplin soon
found work with a new company and went on tour with his brother who also wanted
an acting career.
In 1906 , he
joined the juvenile act Casey’s Circus and became the star of the show . By the
time the act finished , he had become a famous comedian.
Charlie’s career continued to grow and he became world –
famous .
