Charlie – Charles  Spencer Chaplin was born in London to Hannah Chaplin and Charles Chaplin . At the time of his birth , both his mother and father were music hall entertainers .

Hannah (Chaplin’s mother) was the daughter of a shoemaker and had an unsuccessful career under the stage name Lily Harley.

Chaplin’s childhood was filled with poverty and hardship . His early years were spent with his mother and brother in London .They were not getting any financial support by Chaplin’s father .

As the situation deteriorated, Chaplin was sent to a workhouse when he was just seven years old .

In 1898 , Hannah had developed a psychosis mainly brought by an infection .

His father died two years later as he had become an alcohol addict  .

  3. He made everyone laugh but in his personal life he had to face all the hardships and struggles. He didn't have a happy childhood. What an irony! Nice post.
